Vehicle Adventures

Vehicle Adventures

Currently, our Love for Asia team has had some real adventures with vehicles.

The Love for Asia team video records sermons that are preached live in various places, makes and distributes the DVDs to villages and posts them on the Love for Asia website and YouTube channel. They've heard many praise reports from these efforts.

The team, directed by Daniel Bair, really needed a reliable vehicle to carry them and their equipment into the villages.  They began to pray for a solution.

The Bairs had a van that was giving them a lot of trouble, often leaving them stranded.  They also had a car that was much too small for their growing family.  They decided to sell the small car and give away the van so they could get a more reliable van to meet all their needs.  (Thankfully, they have purchased a good van.)

Daniel went to work with a local mechanic to get both vehicles working as well as possible.

One adventure occurred when they decided to give the old van to Josh Bauder for the slum kids project.  Brian Atwell and Josh Bauder came to pick up the van, which is about a 10 hour drive from Bangkok. Before they left Brian told a very encouraging story about a pastor who gave a vehicle away that was constantly breaking down.  That vehicle lasted two more years helping to transport people to church.  The Bairs prayed that this miracle would also happen for Josh so he could transport the children and the elderly to church in the slum.

Right away, the guys made a wrong turn and ended up stuck in the mud, in a rice field. “It could be worse,” was their response.  Thankfully some friends came to their rescue.

As they were nearing Bangkok, the van broke down so bad they had to have a flatbed truck rescue them.  This was a blessing in disguise because the lug nuts on one of the back wheels had only been hand tightened and the brakes were bad.  (The engine in this van is currently almost dead.)

Another adventure for the Love for Asia team is just traversing the steep dirt roads into and out of the villages.  Rain and mud increases the challenge.  They needed something with four wheel drive.

God has provided in a BIG way for the Love for Asia team!  They have been able to secure a loan for a used (2006) Toyota Fortuner 4x4 vehicle that was the dealer’s personal vehicle.  It is in very good condition and yet at a good price.  They have outfitted this vehicle to be a mobile video production unit, much like what a live action news team use.

The whole process was a huge answer to prayer and just a few days ago they were able to set up and stream "live" to Facebook from a remote Hmong Village church in the mountains of northern Thailand.  This is so exciting!! They can now run a broadcast-quality production and broadcast live from any village.  The vehicle serves as the control center and internet on their phones streams the sermon live via Facebook to the whole world.  This is just the beginning of many new adventures and opportunities to share truth in languages that have very few resources for spiritual growth.

If you would like to be a part of the ongoing vehicle adventures that are tools for sharing the gospel with the unreached in Thailand, you can donate to help pay the loan for the Toyota Fortuner.  Give to the Love For Asia project now.

A video is coming soon about the production vehicle and this exciting praise report!Thank you for your continued prayers!
