JFA Headquarters New Office/Studio/Prayer Center
God is on the move, and He is calling Jesus for Asia to increase its mission reach, both in the number of projects as well as in new territories. To follow that call, we need to grow our team here at our US headquarters. However, we cannot do that in our current office space, which we have already outgrown. We have up to nine people working in a 400-square-foot windowless room in the basement of a house, as well as several working upstairs in the living room.
That means there is no privacy for conversation or phone calls, and people easily interrupt each others’ work. The set where we film Jesus for Asia Now episodes for 3ABN is in the garage–which means that when we shoot a show, no one can use the restroom or walk upstairs because it creates noise. Parking is also a problem because we have nowhere to expand.
We’ve spent over three years looking for alternatives and have not found anything suitable. Buying a bigger house is not a good option because most driveways cannot accommodate ten or more cars. Plus, zoning restrictions make most homes unusable for business. Commercial property has very limited availability in our area. It is expensive, usually designed for retail, and difficult to change into office and studio space. We almost rented two units in a small strip mall last year but realized we would nearly fill it up upon moving there; there was no space for expansion. Also, the units had no space for our television set or to hold meetings.
In the summer of 2021, God clearly led us to a plot of land in downtown Collegedale that is tucked in a nice peaceful corner next to the Korean Adventist Church and across the street from Morning Pointe, an assisted care facility, and Garden Plaza, a retirement community.
The property is one and a half acres of bare land with a “build to suit” option. This is very attractive because it means that we won’t have to take much time from the ministry for things like getting permits and choosing contractors, etc. The developer is well known in the area, and we have received encouragement from other contractor friends saying that we “are in good hands.”
We have spent countless hours in prayer about this, and we continue to see God’s definite leading toward building an office on this land. One example is that, even though it’s in a very desirable location, the land has remained unsold for over 17 years. The developer said that it seems “God has preserved it for such a time as this.”
And yet we have gone forward very slowly - and yes, very reluctantly - step by step over the last year. This is a huge commitment of time and resources, and we do not want anything to distract from the work in Asia. But God has been prodding us through scriptures and providences to keep going forward. He is definitely growing our faith.
I want to state here that we do not want donations that would normally go to Asia to be redirected for this opportunity. The work in the field has to continue to go forward. In fact, we have been praying that this building will be constructed only if it will enlarge the work in Asia and more souls will be saved into the Kingdom!
The current status is that we have permit approval from the city and county, and the builder has already started work on the land this week!
We had a groundbreaking ceremony - by faith! Click here for the pictures.
As you can see from the floor plan, it will not be just an office space; there will also be studio space and an auditorium room, which will be used for FaithCamp, training, prayer, and other meetings.
The total funding goal is $2.7 million. This includes the land, construction, landscaping, site work, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
We have received a $250,000 matching grant toward the land purchase and building, which is very exciting because it means each dollar given up to the first $250,000 will be doubled!
Please pray for this opportunity, and if the Lord impresses you to partner financially with us on this project, please click the button below.
